Day on the Hill

MOLN holds an annual Day on the Hill event at the Minnesota Legislature.  In 2017 the event was held on February 1st.  The purpose of the event is to provide participants with an opportunity to become actively involved in public policy related to nursing and health care.

Prior to the day, participants are encouraged to make appointments with their elected officials for the day of the event.  MOLN is able to assist with making these appointments if needed.  The Day on the Hill typically begins with a briefing on issues of interest.  These issues are identified by the MOLN Policy and Advocacy Committee and includes legislation relation specifically related to nursing as well as health care legislation affecting nursing practice.  Participants are given handouts and documents on these key issues to share with their legislators.  In addition to meeting directly with legislators, participants are able to attend key hearings and take a tour of the Capitol building.  The day ends with a report back from participants on the outcome of their meetings with legislators.

Registration for the 2018 Day on the Hill will open late in 2017.  Once dates are set for the 2018 event, they will be posted on the MOLN website.
